Presentation
We understand the studies about development and exchanges between society and nature as an area still to be examined. There are some partial approaches based on isolated topics. Besides, there are a few approaches that integrate the different disciplinary problems in a wide perspective taking social sciences and humanities as a whole. The development study is an important topic of the economical science. But in these studies, the social actors and their background are not the important factor. The priority is the economic structure in its quantitative aspects. The relationship between society and nature have been studied recently, but only partially by means of the environmental analysis, particularly the environmental impact and risk analysis. It is necessary to integrate the ways, structures and social actions that characterises the exchange between each social group with each portion of nature. After that, it is possible to deduce the impacts. The social sciences should make the effort to stand out in this matter. That is why, it is very important to integrate in this network the study about development and the relationship between society and nature. So, it is necesary to adopt an interdisciplinary view, starting from the social sciences and humanities, as the focus should be the social actor. It is widely known that the development pattern defines and regulates the historical dynamics of the social processes. Also, the need to add in the analysis the natural an environmental variables has been considered recently. In this way, it will be possible to plan a sustainable developmental policy from the economic, social and environmental point of view. To sum up, the central interest of this network is to generate a field of study and discussion to work towards the integration and exchanges of the different disciplines and subdisciplines. So, the regional, environmental, rural, urban and development studies are the field of interest of THEOMAI. All these topics, seen from the different social sciences and humanities (sociology, history, anthropology, economy, geography, politics, etc.) and articulated with the idea of synthesis and the integration of the different points of view.
